What genres of books are there and how are they displayed? (Photo)
In my classroom there is a square area has two shelves of books. There are three different levels of books.
On each Thursday the teacher works on books for students to read it. He is divide books based on the level of students. In addition, there is one kind of books just visual that mean the normal book has pictures and sentences.
Describe a phonics lesson you observed.
The teacher teaches words to students through a strategy of rebating. First, he writes words on the board. Next, he read a word. After that, students repeat it.Then, he explains the phonics of some litter.
The teacher uses pictures to deliver the meaning of words for pupils or he sometimes asks the student understand the meaning of the word to explain it to his friends. In addition, the teacher gives students small board to do practice on these words because he aimed to do with them sibling test on it.
Consider different reading approaches have you observed?
According to EPR 2603 Language Arts D (Teaching Methods for the Primary School Teacher).My (MST) reads a story with a small group of students. At each time he reads with different levels. Then he asks them some question about the print of concepts. For example: show me the title? Where I should start to read the book and describe a picture.
According to EPR 2503 Language Arts C English Language Learners in the Classroom (ELL). In my classroom a lot of students in grade 3 no have English. They are in level NEP: Non-English Proficient (Beginners). The students at this level have very few oral skills – little or no English proficiency.
They may go through a “silent period” where they attempt to make no English sounds. These students can point ,nodding/Shaking Head ,draw ,match ,select ,circle ,state ,choose ,act out ,label ,name ,list and answer yes/no? My (MST) helps students in beginning level by using some Strategies and Activities.For example, label classroom, pre-recorded stories, environmental labels and Reading Aloud. In addition, language experience it’s become through a student’s talk with the teacher and his friends every day.
Describe some types of writing activities or the method the teacher uses for writing.
The teacher work on all types of writing emergent writing, copywriting and dictations because he has different levels of students in his class and each lesson need to the different activity of writing. Firstly, in the class of English, the teacher teaches students writing roles (capital letter in the first of sentence, finger space between words and full stop).
Then, He writes four sentences on the board and students write it on their papers. Secondly, the students need to do the spelling test on each Thursday that because the teacher uses the writing dictations. Finally, the teacher makes specific group they need more practice in writing. They are the weak group in writing. The teacher print for them some letters they cannot write it. So the teacher helps a student to improve him on writing skill.
